Robert Nanala Tjapaltjarri

Robert Nanala Tjapaltjarri is a Pintupi man from the Kiwirrkura region. He often paints works associated with ancestral sites, particularly the salt lake Marawa, near Wilkinkarra (Lake Mackay in WA). Born in 1969, Robert’s name was Walala, and his brother Warlimpirrnga Tjapaltjarri is well known artist.

He is one of the Pintupi Nine, the last group of Indigenous Australians to come into contact with Europeans in 1984.   Mostly he lives in Balgo (Wirrimanu) in WA, and paints for both Walayirti Art Centre and Papunya Tula Artists.
