John R Walker; Hay Plains 3 - 26 August
3 - 26 August
Everyone of a certain age can remember the epic journey across the Hay Plains.
Almost a rite of passage when travelling from Sydney to Adelaide, the Hay Plains had a reputation for boiling radiators, empty fuel tanks and speeding fines!
It was and remains an unrelenting long straight road through wheat and sheep fields, a wide sky and a far horizon, with plenty of time to contemplate this vast space.
Walker is not a driver, and these paintings capture the moments only a passenger has the opportunity to absorb.
