Richard Larter

Richard Larter was born in England in 1929, and arrived in Australia with his wife Pat in 1962.  He died in Canberra in 2014.

Larter is one of Australia's most significant and engaging artists, with an oeuvre that extends from figurative to pure abstraction, through pop, pointillism and photography.  He is certainly one of the most innovative artists of his era, being honoured with a retrospective at the National Gallery of Australia in 2008.  He is in all Australian state and national gallery collections, as well as major corporate, university and private collections.

Larter was represented by Watters Gallery in Sydney from 1965 to their closure in 2018.  Utopia Art Sydney is proud to be representing the Richard Larter Estate.
